Mr. Freeman became a shareholder in 2009 after joining the firm in 2002. He has a broad civil defense practice that includes complex and commercial litigation, construction defect, product liability, litigation of environmental law in compliance with federal and state regulations, labor and employment law, worker’s compensation, and insurance defense. Mr. Freeman has achieved favorable results for his clients in jury trials throughout the state.

Mr. Freeman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Birmingham-Southern College with a major in sociology and a minor in history. He graduated cum laude from Cumberland School of Law in 2002. While at Cumberland, he was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and was named Outstanding Senior Member. He also received Scholar of Merit Awards in product liability, intellectual property, and constitutional law.

Recent Practice Highlights

Mr. Freeman obtained a defense verdict in a jury trial in Lowndes County, Alabama.  Plaintiff, owner of an excavating machine claimed that the equipment dealer and technician were negligent and wanton in the servicing and maintenance of Plaintiff’s machinery.  The jury returned a verdict in favor of Defendant equipment dealer and technician on all counts.

With shareholder Dennis Bailey and associate Evans Bailey, Freeman was granted motions to dismiss in two cases against an electric distribution cooperative where the plaintiffs were seeking millions in refunds in patronage capital credits

Received jury verdict in favor of Defendant for restaurant/bar in dram shop/wrongful death case

Received jury verdict in favor of Defendant for timber company in trespass/conversion/overcut case

Received jury verdict in favor of Defendant for client in rear-end collision automobile case

Defended trucking company and driver in rear-end collision case; plaintiff asked jury to award $35,000.00 – jury returned verdict for $2,500.00

Summary judgment for HVAC company on case involving alleged defects in unit, system design and installation

Received jury verdict in case involving tractor trailer accident resulting in multiple and serious injuries.  Plaintiff asked jury to award $2.5 million.  Jury returned verdict in favor of Defendant Trucking Company.

Summary judgement for insured driver in accident resulting in serious injuries.  Case involved questions of law concerning applicability of Alabama’s Guest Passenger Statute.

Received jury verdict in favor of Defendant Trucking and Logging Company in Perry County

The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals affirmed Summary Judgment in a vehicular accident in which the Plaintiff alleged that the driver operated his vehicle in a wanton manner

Favorable decision in Mandella v. Pennington recognized by Alabama Law Weekly as one of the most significant Alabama Court of Civil Appeals decisions in 2011

Honors and Awards

Mr. Freeman was selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of Alabama Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for Personal Injury Defense:  General Litigation.

He was again selected as a Rising Star in Personal Injury Defense: General Litigation in the 2014 edition of Alabama Super Lawyers.

While in law school, Mr. Freeman was named Outstanding Senior Member of The American Journal of Trial Advocacy. He also received Scholar of Merit Awards in product liability, intellectual property, and constitutional law.

Mr. Freeman is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery. He also serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery.
